Welcome to the Rooster Ridge Farm website. I thought I'd start by telling you a little about us and what all we do here.
First, it's me (Tina), my husband and my kiddo, who's 10 (gah, how did THAT happen??). Anyway, we live on 40+ acres in rural Indiana where we raise Boer and Myotonic Goats and a variety of poultry, have a few horses, a dog (Birdie) and each spring/summer we may add to that menagerie a couple of feeder steers, or pigs, turkeys or whatever else we feel like feeding plus a decent sized garden. Most people these days call how we live "homesteading", but really, for us, it's just life. It's just how we do things.
My boys are avid outdoorsmen and we often have wild game to preserve and prepare, along with whatever we are raising. We raise and harvest livestock and garden.
We homeschool the kiddo, and usually he can be found outside, barefoot and exploring the woods or creating a fun new gadget, or conducting science and physics experiments.
All that to say, we try to live simply and enjoy the finer points of life. And, if you've ever tried living a "simple" farm life, you know it's very often the complete opposite of simple. I hope you enjoy getting to know us and what we do here on our little northern Indiana homestead.
