Live Birds (Eggs & Chicks)

Purchasing Poultry and Eggs from Rooster Ridge Farm

First, please understand that we are NOT a large commercial hatchery, just a small farm that enjoys our poultry. We work hard to raise healthy, hearty birds who work well for the backyard hobbyist, 4H families and homesteaders alike. 

Orders are filled in the order in which they are received.  We are NPIP and will ship eggs, however we do not ship chicks or feathered birds at this time.

Chicks that are sold as "straight run" means there is no guarantee on sex.

Heritage Rhode Island Reds

Our RIR's are NOT the commercial red birds you get from the farm stores and hatcheries.  These birds are a heritage breed, with much darker feathers, more meat and more consistency from generation to generation. Our birds are always bred with the APA Standard of Perfection in mind first.  Rhode Island Reds are great foragers and do well both a free range, or coop setting, they lay 200-300 large brown eggs per year, generally starting at 4-6 months of age.  These have quickly become some of our favorite birds with their curious personalities and docile nature.

Black/Blue Copper Marans

Our Blue/Black Copper Marans are NOT the commercial variety of Marans or "Mystic Marans" that have become so popular in recent years. These birds are from exhibitor breeder stock and have been carefully selected each generation to meet the APA Standard of Perfection with a mind on egg color.  They are a large fowl and layers of gorgeous dark brown eggs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we do not guarantee hatch rates of fertilized eggs.  Handling during transport, length of shipping times, weather extremes, incubator temperature and humidity all play a factor in how successful your hatch is.  What we do guarantee is that we pack eggs to the absolute best of our ability with foam shippers and a padded double box to ensure they have the smoothest ride possible.  We check fertility weekly and only sell fertilized eggs from pens that are at least 97% fertilized and that we are hatching from ourselves. Our hens and roosters are fed a premium diet to ensure their eggs have everything they need to grow strong, healthy chicks.
Please note, that when you are purchasing shipped eggs, or chicks, you are PRE-ORDERING and all orders are filled on a first come, first served basis.  Once your order is received, you will be contacted with an estimated ship date, and once your birds are ready, you will be contacted, and have 24 hours to confirm that you are ready to receive your order (this is due to viability of eggs), if you do not confirm, or are not able to take shipment, you will be moved down the list and they will be offered to the next customer.  If you have questions about availability and shipping times, please contact me directly before you purchase.
